Thank you to everyone who posted information to this listing, especially to those who provided the obituaries. They have helped confirm my research, which I am doing because Omar H. Lloyd appeared on city directories for Freeport, Stephenson County, Illinois in the 1914,1917, 1919, and 1921. He appears to have left Freeport soon after 1921; he does not appear in the 1923 Freeport City Directory.
The Illinois Statewide Marriage Index shows Omar H. Lloyd marrying Cecilia Johanna Schryer on September 26, 1912 in Stephenson County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Paul Frederick Schryer and Frances Hettinger. The 1914 Freeport City Directory shows them living at 43 McKinley Ave. in Freeport. It erroneously lists him as Homer Lloyd, but it shows him working as a foreman for Rawleigh - Schryer, and Omar's father William lloyd was also living in Freeport, at 231 Adams Ave, and also working as a foreman at Rawleigh - Schryer. Rawleigh - Schryer was the gasoline engine manufacturing arm of the W. T. Rawleigh Company in Freeport, and Cecelia's father was the secretary-treasurer of the W. T. Rawleigh company in 1914. He and his wife Frances lived at 422 Lincoln Ave. in Freeport.
Omar Lloyd's marriage to Cecelia apparently fell apart sometime before 1917, because he is listed in the Freeport City Directory as O. Lloyd, without a wife and working as an inspector at the Stephens Motor Company, a division of Moline Plow in Freeport which manufactured automobiles. He was living in Room 52 of the Mackay Building, a rooming house in Freeport.
In the spirit of the times (denying divorce), he appears as single on his World War I Draft Registration Card, which he signed in June of 1917. The Honor Roll of the Great War for Stephenson County, Illinois book lists him as having enlisted at Garden City, Long Island, New York, and serving as a sergeant in the 378 Aero Squad.
Returning to Freeport, he is listed in the 1919 Freeport City Directory as back working as an inspector Stephens Motor Company, a division of Moline Plow, and rooming at
108 Stephenson in Freeport.
Checking the 1920 US Federal Census, both Omar and Cecelia list themselves as single. Omar is listed in the 1920 census for Freeport and Cecelia is listed with her parents, who have moved to Wauwatosa, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. Refer to Paul Frederick Schryer's listing on Findagrave, #163936995 for details as to why.
And in 1921, Omar is listed as Omar H. Lloyd, an inspector for Moline Plow (which is listed as Moline Plow- Stephens Motor in the same directory. He is rooming at 14 1/2 W. Stephenson.
