A memorial service for Charles Allen “Ted” Rodamer, 73, of 349 Collicello Street, Harrisonburg will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg.

The service will be conducted by Dr. John F. Sloop. A private burial will be held earlier in the day.

Mr. Rodamer died Thursday evening at the University of Virginia Medical Center, where he had been a patient six weeks.

He was born Aug. 5, 1914, in Grantsville, Md., and was a son of the late Stewart and Orpha Maust Rodamer. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University and served with the 24th Infantry Division in the Pacific during World War II. He had lived in Harrisonburg since 1945.

He worked for the U.S. Forestry Service for 37 years before retiring in 1971 and was secretary-treasurer of Rodamer’s Landscaping Inc.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was a former member of the board of deacons, and of the Elks Lodge. He was involved in Scout work.

His wife, the former Margaret Backskay survives.

Also surviving are a son Charles Rodamer of Harrisonburg and two grandchildren

The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 today at Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home. Friends also may call at the Rodamer home The family said memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building fund, 17 Court Square, Harrisonburg.
