Son of Hamilton and Caledonia Snipes Capps, husband of Edna Whaley. Father of five sons: Leon, Tee, Clement, Fitzhugh, and Alton.

Hart was a very refined man who always looked his best. It's said that he even dressed in suit and tie for his trips to the barber shop. He owned a general store near the railroad tracks in Centenary, SC.
