Mrs. Mary M. Henderson, widow of James M.
Henderson, died at her home. 444 North
Salisbury street, West Lafayette, Monday
morning at 4:45 o'clock after a month's
illness. She was 82 years of age. The
immediate cause of her death was
erysipelas.
She was born in Tippecanoe county,
near Lafayette, February 16,1841, and
was married twice, first to Robert
Sterrett by whom she had one son,
Charles. Her second husband was
James M. Henderson, and the following
children born to this union survive.
Mrs. Mellie Alkire, of Denver, Colo.;
Mrs. Laura Coleman of Brooklyn, N.Y.;
Mrs Bertha Ogborn, Monon, Ind.; George
and Oliver Henderson, both of Lafayette.
Mrs. Henderson was a member of the
First Methodist Episcopal church of
West Lafayette and of the Women's
Relief Corps.
