Rhoda Hain, the deceased, was born August 7, 1816, in Miami County, Ohio.
She was married to P. S. Cory Sr., January 10, 1832 who at the advanced age of
eighty-seven still survives her.
By this union eight children were born to them, two alone of whom are living, Linus
and P. S. Cory, Jr. They emigrated to Indiana in 1832 and after ten years residence
in that state, they came to Iowa, then a territory, and chose a place of residence in Cedar County where they lived for fourteen years. At the end of this period they moved to Wilton Junction, Muscatine county, remaining there until 1882, when they came to this county, since which time they have made their home with their son, L. S. Cory.
She united with the Baptists church in the fifties in which faith she died at the residence of her son, L. S. Cory, Monday, August 12, 1895 at 6:30 a.m. at the age of seventy-nine years and five days.
The funeral services were held at the residence Tuesday, August 13, 1895 at 1:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. James McCoy, after which she was laid to rest in Sixteen cemetery.
