Elias Babione was the son of John George Babione and Mary Ann Reinig.

Elias served with Company A, 11th Ohio Voluntary Infantry during the Civil War. He enlisted on August 13, 1862 and was discharged on June 27, 1865.

Elias married Sarah Ann Ott on March 28, 1867 in Sandusky county, Ohio. Elias and Sarah had children: Mary Belle, William Charles, Hattie, Lester Albertus, Sarah Ellen, Reuben Elias, Clarence Henry, twins, Roy Clifton, and Raymond Clayton, and Edgar Eugene.
