"Christiann Ankeny Welker, born in Westmorland County, PA April 23, 1815. Migrated with her parents at the age of 15 years to the village of Ankenytown, Knox County Ohio, the name being given to the little cluster of cabins in the woods, upon the arrival of the Ankeny family. But it is not strange that this family name should be chosen as the name of the village that would grow into a populous town for the very name itself symbolizes purity and goodness. In the 22nd year of her life she was united by the holy bonds in wedlock to Paul Welker. To them were born 4 children, 3 of whom survive her, Dr. George A., Sylvester and Belle. Upon Thursday evening last, after an illness of but a few days, at 10:30pm, she was called to her reward aged 80 years, 4 months and 19 days."
