From a Knox County Ohio paper: "Paul Welker, a highly esteemed citizen of Howard Township, died on Saturday night last and was buried on Monday. He was born in Union Township, September 16, 1813, and was therefore 69 years of age. He removed to Howard Township when he was thirty years of age, where he has ever since resided. During that time he was elected Justice of the Peace and filled the office for twenty consectutive years. He was married in 1838 to Christiann M Ankney (a native of Westmorland Co PA - she came to Knox County at about age of fifteen years) by whom he had four children, three of whom are still living__ Dr. George A., Sylvester and Belle."

His grandfather came to Knox County in 1807, bringing with him his family. His father David Welker was a native of Pennsylvania and was a young and single man when with his parents he came to the Buckeye state in 1807. David (Paul's father) married Miss McMillan, who was of Irish descent. This information came from "The Biographical Record of Knox County Ohio 1902, ref 977.152
