Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. for Taft resident, Alfred Dyer, 80. Rev. Sam White, pastor of the Cuyama Assembly of God, will officiate.

Mr. Dyer was born in Lipan, Texas on Aug. 11, 1923 and passed away in a Bakersfield hospital on Jan. 15, 2004.

He faithfully served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army. He had lived on the Westside since 1952. Mr. Dyer had been employed by PG&E as a meter reader for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Toy Dyer in 1996; his son Dennis Dyer in 1968; his brothers Conrad and Glendon Dyer and his sister Mary Behrends. Mr. Dyer is survived by his son and his wife, his brother, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren.

Friends are invited to pay their respects at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
