DYER CONRAD DOUGLAS of Albany passed away on June 6, 2001. He was 81. Born on the family farm in East Texas, Conrad married Vernell Teague on his 22nd Birthday, Dec 13, 1941. They moved to California during the years of WWII and later made their home in Albany. ""Connie'' worked most of his career in the tire industry with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. He was involved for several years with the Albany Little League. Together with his three sons, he was an avid outdoorsman, with a special enjoyment of hunting and fishing. Conrad also had a keen interest in thoroughbred horse racing. In his retirement, he went on to own his own race horses. Conrad was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Vernell Dyer and his sister, Mary Behrends. He is survived by his three brothers; Alfred, Glendon, Paul, three sons; Thomas, Stephen and Robert and his seven grandchildren; Ruth, Paul, Sarah, Alyson, Samantha, Kirstie and Alyssa. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 16, 2001 at 1:00 PM at Sunset View Cemetery, El Cerrito, CA (510) 525-5111 Memorial Contributions may be made to Cal Farley's Boy's Ranch, (800) 687-3722.
