Robert E. Bales

Robert E. Bales, 44, of New Concord Route 2, an employee of L.E. Rice Trucking Company, died 1:55 a.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Hospital, where he had been a patient the past two weeks.

Born Aug. 22, 1926, at Norwich, Mr. Bales was a son of Vibert and Marie Darner Bales.

He had been a resident of the Bloomfield area the past five years and was a former member of the New Concord IOOF.

Surviving are his widow, the former Charlene Jones of the home; a stepdaughter, Mary Ann LaGrange of the home; three stepsons, Donald, Charles and James LaGrange, all of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Norma) Murrey of New Concord and Mrs. Roy (Alice Mae) Beam of Cambridge; a brother, Dean Bales of Dresden; and a half-brother, William Nelson with the Army.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mock Funeral Home in New Concord with Rev. Thomas Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Norwich Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Thursday.
