Middle name was possibly spelled "Walther" and according to one source, he was referred to by his middle name. Martin was baptized in the Concordia Lutheran Church in Moland Township, MN on January 1, 1894. His baptismal sponsors were Christian & Gunhild Tangen, John & Anna Knutson. Kragnes Township records state his birth date as 15 Nov 1893.

On Tuesday a little son, about two years old of Ole Tangen, town of Kragnes, died. He was taken sick with measles, which changed to lung fever. Burial Saturday.
