Katie Bridges Liles

Katie Bridges Liles, 89, died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a resident of Greenwood and a former resident of Henderson, Ky.

She was born Nov. 16, 1913, in Trigg County, Ky. She married Maurice W. Liles. He preceded her in death in 1974. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Hertel of Greenwood; a son, James Ray Liles of Greenwood; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Sara Kimbrough of Henderson, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was employed by Scott Lumber Co. in Henderson, Ky., as an office manager and accountant for 25 years.

She was a member of Mount Auburn United Methodist Church since 1999. She was a member of First Christian Church in Henderson, Ky., from 1950 to 1999 where she was an ordained elder, lay leader and Sunday school teacher. She was active in church, school and charitable organizations.

She was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1971 by Gov. Louie Nunn for her business and political activities.

Arrangements are pending at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home on South Green Street in Henderson, Ky. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery.
