Ezekiel was tenth out of twelve siblings. He was a seaman and farmer at Indian River.
On July 24, 1845, at age 25, Ezekiel married Rebecca J. Linnen, his first cousin. They had a son, George M, (1846 - 1880), who was a captain in the Civil War and a seaman. George died young in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In 1852, at age 32, he married Sophia Ruggles Allen (1826 - 1902). They had the following children:

**It is documented by a marriage record that Waldo Sawtelle Emerson was the son of Sophia Ruggles Allen and Ezekiel Harry Emerson. He is not listed in the Early Pleasant River Families of Washington County, Maine genealogy source.
