A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011, at University Church of Christ with Bob Scott officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The family will receive friends at a visitation 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Dorothy was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma September 25, 1920, the daughter of Evans William and Lucille (Flood) Yates. After her mother passed away in 1928, she lived with her maternal aunt and her husband, Dorothy and James Montgomery, in Enid, Oklahoma and later with her maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. E.O. Flood, in Mountain View, Oklahoma. In 1937, Dorothy returned to live with her father, who had remarried in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City in 1938. Dorothy attended S.W. Oklahoma State College where she met the love of her life July 29, 1938. They were married in Enid, Oklahoma July 29, 1939.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Glen Evans Yates; and two grandchildren, Noah and Kris Evans.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur D. Evans; a son, Stephen Evans and wife, Lek, of Roiet, Thailand; a daughter, Pati Espenlaub of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Betty Evans; grandchildren, Bill, Jeremy and wife, Christy, and Seth Evans; and a great-grandson, Wyatt Evans.
