Frances Margaret Sandy Shiley, 97, died at her home at 1576 Gun Barrel Rd., White Post.

Mrs. Shiley was born October 28, 1911 in Broadway, Virginia to Melvin Karicofe "M. K." Sandy and Cora Lily Mason Sandy.

She moved to the Stephens City area at the age of three. She was the last surviving member of the Class of 1928 of Stephens City High School. She was a graduate of State Normal School for Women and taught in Frederick County at the one room Deerfield School and at the two room Armel School.

She became a member of the White Post United Methodist Church in 1933.

She married Arthur Lindsey Shiley on August 12, 1933 by the Rev. J. B. Russell in Winchester, Virginia. Mr. Shiley died on October 1, 1990.

Surviving are a son, Ralph Samuel Shiley and a daughter, Eleanor Shiley Lloyd, both of White Post, VA; 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine Yancey of Stephens City, VA and Mary Ritter of Winchester, VA; a brother, William Sandy of Winchester, VA; grandchildren, Thomas William Russell, Kathryn Russell Paskel, Susan Shiley Martin, Sandra Shiley Anderson, Bruce Anthony Shiley, Todd Randall Shiley, Adonica Lloyd Miller, Aaron Randolph Lloyd, and Adam Zane Lindsey Lloyd; great-grandchildren, Rachel Russell, Cora Russell, Campbell Paskel, Courtney Paskel, Leslie Michielli, Chrissy Martin, Logan Martin, Michael Rutherford, Jeffrey Rutherford, Shawn Anderson, Jared Shiley, Samuel Shiley, Zachery Shiley, Tyler Shiley, Peyton Shiley, Jordan Shiley, Gage Shiley, Brennan Miller, Hunter Lloyd, Tanner Lloyd, and Tina Regan; and great-great grandchildren, Brayden Michielli, Nicolas Michielli, Aliza Michielli, Mikaila Michielli, Selene Russell, and Colin Regan.

A son, Arthur Robert "Bob" Shiley of Stephens City, a daughter, Margaret Louise Shiley Russell of White Post, a sister, Louise Buckley of White Post, and six brothers, Raymond Sandy, Robert Sandy, James Sandy, Melvin Sandy, John Sandy, and Charles Sandy, all preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Friday, January 30, 2009 at the White Post United Methodist Church with Rev. Adam Sowder officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Stephens City.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Russell, Bruce Shiley, Todd Shiley, Aaron Lloyd, Adam Lloyd, and Randolph Buckley. Honorary pallbearers will be Samuel R. Buckley, James W. Lupton, and Floyd W. Lofton.

The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:00 A M. Friday prior to the service at the church.
