James ran Barry Landing, a boat landing in Hardin, Calhoun County Illinois. This was where thousands of barrels of the famed Calhoun apples were shipped south on the Illinois River to St. Louis, Missouri or north to Peoria, Illinois.
Anna's mother lived with her and the children after James died in 1929 at the age of 55.
At the time of her death, Anna was 92 years, 3 months and 20 days old. She was buried next to her husband, James.
