George Angerer, 2223 Plum Street, passed away at the residence of his son, Alphonso John Angerer, at Girard, Saturday evening shortly after 8 o'clock after a short illness, aged 76 years and 2 months. Deceased was born in Bavaria, Germany, February 18, 1844, came to this country in 1872, and made Erie his permanent home where he worked in a car shop and ran a grocery store located across from 23rd and Plum.
In the year of 1874 he was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Braun, with whom he lived in happiest wedlock. Also on July 30, 1883 George made application for citizenship and was certified on October 2, 1883 and became a citizen on October 2, 1886. Mr. Angerer was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church and belonged to the Holy Name Society. He was a good man, honest and upright in all his dealings with his fellowmen and commanded the respect and confidence of all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. In his home he was a loving husband and father and his presence in the family circle will be sadly missed. George died of chronic prostatitis and septicimia. He leaves to mourn besides his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Haller and Mrs. John Burkell, and three sons, Theodore, Michael, and John Angerer. He is further survived by twenty grandchildren.
Interment will be made in Trinty Cemetery.
