Mary L "Polly" (Lingo) Pippin Epperly is the daughter of Samuel Sanders LINGO and his first wife Sarah SMITH. According to the Samuel Sanders LINGO Bible. This is the birthdate for her in the Bible, too.

When Mary Elizabeth Polly LINGO was born on May 22, 1831, in Randolph, Missouri, her father, SAMUEL, was 25, and her mother, SARAH P. "Jitty" (SMITH) LINGO, was 24. She married Joseph Pippin and they had three children together. She then married Thomas Shelton EPPERLY and they had four children together. She died on December 30, 1899, in Kerby, Oregon, at the age of 68, and was buried in Cave Junction, Oregon.

Mary's first husband was Joseph Pippin, son of Howell and Amy Pippin. Mary and Joseph were married March 29, 1848, in Macon County, Missouri, performed by E.H. Lawson, MG, and witnessed by Samuel Lingo and Shelton Epperly. To this union were born:

1. Sarah Elizabeth (Pippin) Slater
2. William T. Pippin m. 1. Elizabeth L. Epperly 2. Mary H. Clausen
3. James Lewis Pippin m. Judith L. Roberts

Joseph appears to have died before 1870. Mary married her second husband, Thomas Shelton Epperly June 12, 1870, in Macon County, Missouri.
