George Samuel Walters, 93, of LaFollette, passed away on April 19, at the Blue Skies of Texas Retirement Community in San Antonio, Texas. He was a Christian, baptized in East Tennessee, and loved the Lord. George was a pleasant, happy, optimistic person his entire life. He was born to the late Oba and Sally Lou Walters on Sept. 22, 1924.

Col. Walters was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Ozelle of Texas. . . .
Col. Walters loved history and received his Master's Degree in History from Vanderbilt University. According to his WWII flight instructor, he was a natural-born pilot. His favorite plane to fly was the P41. He became an AF flight instructor himself and then an AF Office of Special Investigations Staff Officer. During his tenure in the OSI, he had the honor of meeting/protecting several U.S. presidents, world leaders, and actors. Col. Walters loved . . . sharing all sorts of stories - especially those about his family's LaFollette funeral business.

Col. Walters will be laid to rest with military honors at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
