John William McKay, his wife Rhetta McKay, his mother Sarah Sophronia McKay and his siblings Lomie, Ida, Tom and Zedie are listed in the 1900 census, enumerated in June. Rhetta is recorded as having no children though she would have had Artie and Homer by this time.

1910 census - Stonewall Co TX
McKay JW head 38 farmer rents farm, Rhetta wife 29 seven children all living, Artie 12, Homer 11, Charlie 9, William 7, Tressa 5, Nola 3, Alpha 1. Rhetta is said to have no occupation. Artie, Homer and Charles laborers on home farm. John was born in Alabama, others in Texas.

Homer married Carria Lue Craig 10 Nov 1920 in Garza Co TX (Texas Marriage Index). Carria, the daughter of Robert Lee Craig (1877-1967) and Nancy 'Nannie' Jane Lackey (1877-1919), was born 1 Nov 1899 in Texas.

Homer and Carria's son Glenn W McKay was born 6 September 1922 in Post TX. He died 9 April 1995 in Los Angeles Co CA.

Daughter Louise McKay born about 1927 in Texas. She appears to have married Albert W Wanless as Elsie Louise McKay in Gaines Co TX.

Homer was living in Seminole TX (Box 998) when he registered for the WWII draft 16 February 1942. The person who will always know his address is Mrs. J. W. Young of Post TX. Born 7 December 1898 in Hamilton Co TX. Employer Magnolia Petroleum Co. 5' 9", brown eyes and hair, ruddy complexion.

Homer, a carpenter, and wife Carria are listed as living at 3106 Maple in the 1946, 1947, 1948 and 1949 Lubbock city directories. They were residing at 3106 Bates in 1950, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1959 and 1960 with Homer continuing as a carpenter. In 1956 he was employed by Woody Williamson Contr.

Homer was mentioned as a surviving son of his mother living in Lubbock 2 Feb 1961 ('McKay Rites Set at Rotan,' Abilene Reporter-News).

Mrs. Carria McKay of Palmdale, California is mentioned as surviving her father 17 Feb 1967 ('Robert L. Craig Dies; Rites Pend,' Lubbock Avalanche-Journal).

Homer died 18 Dec 1976 in Los Angeles Co CA.

Carria died 12 December 1977 in Los Angeles County CA and shares a memorial stone with Homer at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
