LYMAN WESTCOTT DIES IN RUTLEDGE
Was Postmaster of Missouri Town for Fifteen Years—Funeral on Wednesday Afternoon.
Rutledge, Mo., July 29.—Lyman Westcott died at his residence in Rutledge Monday. He was born in Ohio November 27, 1846, and was married to Miss Harriett Eden December 25, 1873. To this union were born five children, three sons and two daughters. He leaves his wife; two sons, R. D. Westcott of Rutledge, and Roy Westcott of Knox City; and one daughter, Mrs. Manda Nickson, of Deamott, Ark.
Mr. Westcott was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He held the position of postmaster for about fifteen years, until about a year ago. In the early days he was a merchant and stock buyer at Sand Hill, of this county.
Mr. Westcott had been a sufferer for some time from paralysis, but stood his suffering with patience and fortitude. He was always ready to extend the hand of charity to suffering humanity and to take hold and help any cause that was for the upbuilding of his town or community.
Funeral services will be held at the M. E. church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Lisenbee. Burial will be at the Sand Hill cemetery west of town.
