Alma Rosina Burrer was born February 17, 1918 to Christ and Rosina (Hagle) Burrer in McPherson County, near Eureka, SD. She grew up on the farm and attended country school near Eureka. Alma was married to Reinhold Wagenmann at Leola, SD on November 20, 1938. They made their home 14 miles NW of Leola. Alma and Reinhold lived on the farm until 1952 when they moved into Aberdeen. In 1953, Alma began working at various places until 1967, when she went to work for the Holiday Inn in Aberdeen, where she was a dishwasher.
Alma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was on the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge. Alma enjoyed canning, baking and cooking and was known for her German dishes. She loved playing Bingo, dominos and card games. Watching car races was a favorite pastime of hers. Alma was a talented embroiderer. She was active at the Aberdeen Area Senior Citizens Center and volunteered there for many years.
