Old Settler Dies
Moved to Door County 48 Years Ago After Marriage

MAPLEWOOD - Mrs. Joseph Goetz, a resident of Maplewood or vicinity for 48 years, died at her home here Tuesday Moring following a year's illness from dropsy. The funeral will be held this morning from the St. Mary's church with the Rev. Max Oswald officiating, and interment will be made at the St. Mary's cemetery. The Christian Mothers' society, of which Mrs. Goetz was long a member, will attend the funeral.
Mrs. Goetz, a daughter of the late Thomas and Susan Frocera, was born in Poland March 31, 1842, and came to this country when 12 years of age with her parents, settling in Manitowoc county, where she was married in 1863 to Joseph Goetz. The couple immediately moved to Forestville township carving out a farm two miles from Maplewood. They lived there for thirty years and then moved to the village eighteen years ago. Surviving are Mr. Goetz and the following children: Mrs. Anna Petersen, Madison; Mrs. John Polashek, Alma Center; Mrs. John Entrlnger, Maplewood; Mrs. Ferdinand Babler, Maplewood Joseph, Minneapolis; Frank, Manawa; Thomas, Sawyer; and Felix, Detroit, Michigan. One sister, Mrs. Anna Kuffel, Manitowoc, twenty-five grandchildren, and one great grandchild also survive.
