Arvilla Garner, age 96, of Russell Springs, died Friday, October 7, 2011, at the Russell County Hospital. Born August 12, 1915 in Russell County, she was a daughter of the late George Higginbotham and Mary Yates Higginbotham. She was the widow of Frank Robert Garner.

She was also preceded in death by three daughters, Opal, Ruth Carlene and Ruby; four sisters, Polly, Myrtle, Elsie and Ruby; and one brother, Lester Higginbotham.

Mrs. Garner was a homemaker.

Survivors include five children, Dorothy Holt of Jamestown, Jo Ann (David) Zimmerman of New Jersey, Ollion Garner of Russell Springs, Bobby Lee Garner of Jamestown, and Carlos (Sharon) Garner of Indiana; special
friend, Charlotte Ross of Russell Springs; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews; three sisters, Viola Bunch of Russell Springs, Helen Hadley of Florida and Willie Ruth (Bobby) Freck of Indiana; and one brother, Rester Lee (Ruth) Higginbotham of Russell Springs.

The funeral was Monday, October 10, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Kelly Burton, Jr. and Jason Hood officiating. Special music was presented by Amanda Gilbert and Curt Hill.

Pallbearers were Jeff Garner, Shannon Garner, Shawn Garner, Bradley Bolin, Bobby Bolin and Timmy Brumley.
Burial was in the Dixon Cemetery.

Bernard Funeral Home, Russell Springs, was in charge of arrangements.
