PIONEER RESIDENT PASSED AWAY

Mrs. W. H. Macho, passed away at her farm home early Sunday morning. She suffered a lingering illness for many months.

Funeral services were conducted from the Federated Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. Art Isabel officiating.

OBITUARY

Into a pioneer home of Henry and Martha Lockwood at Marysville, Ohio on August 3, 1878, a daughter was born who was named Cora Maude. This daughter died on the morning of January 6th, 1952 at her home in Beardsley, Kansas at the age of 73 years, 5 months, and 3 days.

Losing her mother at an early age, Cora assumed the duties of mother for the rest of her family, consisting of eight children, helping her father care for them.

In her early girlhood she became a member of the Quaker faith, and retained their high ideals until her death.

When her father moved she came with him to Brown County, Kansas where she met, and married Walter H. Macho February 19, 1901. Four daughters were born to this union, all of them living. They made their home on a farm near Willis, Kansas until 1907 when they moved to Rawlins County, 5 miles north of Beardsley where they lived until a few years prior to her death, when they moved to town. It was on February 19, 1951 that they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at their home.

Mrs. Macho was a great lover of flowers and her one hobby was the care and cultivation of house plants. She gave plants to everyone who came to call; many were carried to distant states.

A thoughtful, loving mother; a faithful companion, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her memory will be cherished by her husband; her four daughters, Mrs. Rex Smith of Brewster, Kansas, Mrs. Ralph Dean of Filer, Idaho, Mrs. Everett Archer of Kanorado and Mrs. Floyd Pickett of Goodland and their companions; by her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; by her brother, Herbert Lockwood of Lincoln, Nebraska, the only surviving member of the family of eight children; by many other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held at the McDonald Federated Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 1952. Interment was in the McDonald cemetery.
