MARION - News has just reached here of the death this morning of Mrs. Jane Mace, the mother of Mr. S. G. Mace and Dr. J. C. Mace of this city. She has been ill at her home at Eulonia, 12 miles below Marion, for nearly two weeks of pneumonia, and as she was advanced in years, being over 72, her death was not unexpected.
She was the mother of six sons and two daughters, a devoted family circle, who were around their mother's bedside when the end came.
Only three months ago, her husband, Mr. John M. Mace, passed away, and to those who knew of their happy home life it was no surprise that she should follow soon.
Mrs. Mace was Miss Jane Watson, being a daughter of the late Isham and Mary Watson of the upper portion of Marion County, and her death leaves surviving only one member of the large family, Mrs. Mary LeGette of Latta.
The funeral services were held this morning at 11 o'clock at Friendship Baptist Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. G. T. Gresham, her pastor, conducted the funeral rites.
