At age five while his family was traveling near Short Creek in Kane County, Colima, the five year old son of George and Emily Spencer wanted to ride one of the mules. George gave his okay. Colima had not ridden far when he fell off the mule. He died instantly. He was buried near Calk Creek. He was the forth son of George and Emily and the sixth child of George's to die in seven years. George lost a son and a daughter with his third wife.
