I first got hooked on Genealogy about sixteen or seventeen years ago. I sent a letter to my moms sister to ask her if I could get copies of what she had, because I had no idea where to start. She sent four generations of my moms family. Next I send a letter to my dad's sisters and asked them the same thing. They also sent four generations of information. Then I was stuck, I had no idea where else to go. Then in 2000, My son told me I should buy a computer to see if I could find anything on it, to which I strongly disagreed. Computers scared the heck out of me. I finally bought my first Computer (kicking and screaming), until I found out how much genealogy I could find on the internet. I've been hooked ever since. I've gotten a lot worse since I had to quit work, do to a disability. Now I'm on the computer almost all night. Find a grave has been a lot of help finding people I haven't been able to find. Thank goodness my son convinced me to by a computer.
