Husband of Mary Ann (Canter) West (1832-1913). Son of Joseph Benson West and Sarah Olive (Grice) West. John was the Recorder for Clinton County. He died of cancer. John had two sons - Lafayette and Wilbur West and three daughters - Mrs. Martha A. (Henry) Ayres, Mrs. Emma J. (Frank) Pond and Mrs. Eva (Estes T.) Edwards.
