Some Records have Robert Paul as born in IL in 1866 just after the CW. His father Robert D. Lindsey may have been a prisoner of war there. There is a record that states that he took ill during the war and his brother Miles took him to IL for treatment. This may be where his wife joined him and stayed until he was well enough to go back to his family AL where he was counted on the 1870 Franklin County AL Census.

Robert remarried Manervie Fountain James who had two sons with her first husband, Arthur Delong James who was killed in WWI. Robert and Nervie had two children together. They split up in the later 1920's and the children were given up for adoption along with Nervie's two previous sons, Thomas James & Lawrence James.

They were:

Charlotte Louise Lindsey Allen Gray AL

They were both given their middle names by their adoptive parents.
