James Austin, 72, of Russellville, Arkansas, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. The son of Wade and Dovie (Gibson) Austin, he was born October 25, 1931 in Bells Chapel, Arkansas. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a cureman with Firestone for 27 years. He was a member of the Rogers-Rye Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was Assembly of God in faith. He was preceded in death by his wife Faye Austin, his parents, one brother, and three sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane White and husband Steve of Russellville; two sons, Doug Austin and wife Sherry of Russellville, Greg Austin and wife Rita of Russellville; six grandchildren, Lindsey White, Jenna White, Justin White, Brandon Austin, Kaycee Austin, Morgan Austin; two sisters, Neat Sweeden of Atkins, Vivian Baucom of North Carolina.

Graveside funeral will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Shiloh-Williamson Cemetery in Russellville, Arkansas. Reverend Earl Stapleton will officiate. Full military honors will be provided by the Rogers-Rye Post 2283 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
