John Robert Sears, 80, of 422 Church St., died at 12:30 this afternoon at the North Adams Hospital, where he had been admitted Tuesday, after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage at his home. He was born in Holyoke, the son of Thomas and Bridget (Shea) Sears, and was the oldest of 15 children. He attended schools there and had been a resident of North Adams the past 56 years. He was employed as a foreman at the former Arnold Print Works in this city, and when that plant closed, became a foremen in the sheet metal department of the James Hunter Machine Co. until his retirement. He was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club and of St. Francis Church. He leaves his wife, the former Delia Brodeur; one daughter, Mrs Bernard Fallon; a son Thomas R. Sears; and five grandchildren, all of North Adams; six sisters, Mrs Mary Shea, Mrs Agnes Dent, Miss Gertrude Sears, And Mrs Catherine Sullivan of Holyoke, Mrs Rose Anderstrom and Mrs Lillian Lally of Springfield; one brother Edward Sears of Holyoke; and numerous nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
