Obituary of Kathleen A. Hughes
Kathleen A. Hughes, 78, formerly of 987 Puzzletown Road, died Friday afternoon, May 16, 2003, at Homewood at Martinsburg.
She was born April 5, 1925, in Puzzletown, daughter of Matthew and Myrtle (Kunsman) Himes.
She married Gerald E. Hughes May 7, 1955, in Altoona. He died in April 1990.
Mrs. Hughes was a member of Newry Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church Women. She had 13 years of service with the Pennsylvania Railroad.
Surviving are two daughters: Susan L. Barton and her husband, Robert J., of Hopewell and Karen Claypoole and her husband, Donald, of Duncansville; four sons: Walter and his wife, Gale, of Cortland, Ohio, Gerald and his wife, Helen, of Fort Worth, Texas, Kenny and his wife, Carrol, of Everett and Lynn of Duncansville; four sisters: Phyllis McCoy of Foot of Ten, Bernadette Aurandt of Mercer, Patricia Mclntire in New Jersey and Myrtle Harker of Duncansville; a brother, Allen of Puzzletown; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Claypoole; four sisters: Evelyn Himes, Elsie Eger, Colleen Howard and Olive Harker; and three brothers: Elwood, Howard and Arthu
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, by the Rev. Barbara E. Love.
Interment at Alto Reste Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Newry Lutheran Church; Hospice Home Nursing Agency, 201 Chestnut Ave., Altoona, PA 16601; or Homewood Benevolent Fund.
