Allan P. " Well Known Business Man" Himes Sr., 76, of Duncansville, died Saturday morning at his home.

He was born in Puzzletown, the youngest of 14 children to the late Henry and Myrtle (Kunsman) Himes.

He married the former Miriam L. Burket on April 25, 1953, in St. John's Catholic Church, Lakemont.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years; daughters: Cathy of Martinsburg, Anita and companion, Bob Donley, of Lakemont, Evelyn Tessie and Heather Keefer and husband, Shawn, all of Duncansville; sons: Larry and wife, Sheila, of Puzzletown, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Retired USMC Randy and wife, Jennifer, of Everett, and Michael Paul Himes, who was raised in the family home, and his wife, Diana of Charlotte, N.C.; 30 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Myrtle M. Harker of Hollidaysburg, Bernadette Aurandt of Sharon and Patricia McIntosh.

He was preceded in death by two sons: Allan P. Jr. and Gary W.

He had 30 years of service with Chemical Lehman Tank Lines as union steward and was proprietor of Allan P. Himes Bulldozing and Excavating.

He was a life member of North American Hunt Club; a full member of Hog Harley Owners Group; a 16 year member of American Motor Cycle Association; a 10-year member of ABATE of Blair County, a member of Portage Lodge 220 F & AM, Duncansville VFW, Sons of the American Legion, Allegheny Club in Hollidaysburg and Catholic War Vets.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Newry.

He enjoyed his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing pinochle, was an avid hunter, loved riding his cycles, and loved his beloved pets, Spunky, Queenie, Sprinkles and Buster.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg (www.sorgefuneralhome.com) where a vigil service and a 6 p.m masonic service will be held. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Newry, by Monsignor Anthony B. Little. Committal will be made at New St. Mary Cemetery.

Memorial may be given to the St. Patrick's Church Building Fund or School Fund, Newry.
