SHERMAN Mary Sue Holder, 82, died Saturday, May 29, 1999, at her residence after an extended illness. She was a native of Lee County, but a longtime resident of Sherman. She was the retired owner of Mama Sue's Daycare. She was a member of Sherman Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener. She was the widow of Walter Lee Holder.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Parrish Hartley and the Rev. Rick Burton officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann Gory and her husband, Brooks, of Plantersville; two sons, J.W. Holder of Sherman and Walter Raymond Holder and his wife, Dale, of Endville; one sister, Erma Finney of Saltillo; three brothers, Cliff Scruggs of Sherman, Hansel Scruggs of Okolona and Cecil Scruggs of Dallas; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, King Scruggs, Robert Scruggs and Crite Scruggs.
Pallbearers will be Byran Tate, Bill Basden, Morgan Taylor, Will Pugh, Guy Mitchell and Harold Duke.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Winsome Sunday School Class of Sherman Baptist Church.
