Elsie Greenwell, 89, 1040 Greggs Branch Rd., Butler, Tenn., died on May 23, 2002, in the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Greenwell was a native of Beech Creek, N.C., and the daughter of the late John and Eliza Guy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tine Greenwell.
She was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Marty Greenwell and Ronnie Joe Greenwell, both of Butler, seven daughters, Lola Clawson, Dixon, Tenn., Kathleen Greenwell, Elizabethton, Tenn., Beth Smith, Elizabethton, Tenn., Lynda Hatley, Butler, Tenn., Goldie Gregg, Butler, Tenn., Gloria Greenwell, Butler, Tenn., and Sue Greenwell, Butler, Tenn., 28 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, four great-great-great grandchildren, a special niece, Pearl Shoun, Mountain City, Tenn., and a special son-in-law, Jimmy Smith, Elizabethton, Tenn.

GREENWELL -- Funeral services for Elsie Greenwell, 89, 1040 Greggs Branch Rd., Butler, Tenn., who passed away on May 23, 2002, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel , with the Rev. Russell Potter officiating. Pallbearers will be Gary White, Harold Hatley, Kevin Greene, Shannon Greene, Glenn Phillips, and Jim Harmon. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Sunday at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Dugger Cemetery.
