Mother of Senator Lottie Zella Holman O'Neill

Mary Robbins married Thomas Frank Holman of Texas on 3 Oct 1877 in Hannibal, Marion County, Missouri. They lived in Barry, Pike County, Illinois.

Mary's husband Thomas Frank Holman disappeared from record prior to 1900, when Mary and their children appear in the census record for Duluth, MN. Mary's marital status is "widowed".

Mary's daughter Lottie moved to Chicago and in 1904, married William J. O'Neill. They settled in Downers Grove, Illinois.

In 1910, Mary is found living in Walla Walla, Washington. With her in the household are her son Elmer, her married daughter Lottie Holman O'Neill, and Lottie's children Emmet and William O'Neill. It is assumed that Lottie and her children were there only temporarily, while Lottie's husband remained at their home in Downers Grove, Dupage County, Illinois.

On July 1, 1913, Mary's son Elmer Wallace Holman married Narcissa Johnson in Walla Walla, Washington. They had two children, John Elmer and Mary Holman. Elmer Wallace Holman was an accountant with the Farmer's Savings Bank. On Sept 30, 1915, he was arrested and charged with larceny by embezzlement of $20,000 over a 5 year period of time. He confessed and was convicted and sent to the Washington State Reformatory, where he completed his WWI Draft Registration on June 5, 1917. In 1920, Mary lived with her son Elmer in Aurora, Kane County, Illinois. He is shown as "married", but his wife and children resided in Walla Walla, Washington. Elmer Wallace Holman died of acute alcoholism in Memphis, TN on Oct 22, 1922. He was returned to Downers Grove, Illinois and buried at the Oak Crest Cemetery. His children later adopted their mother's maiden name of Johnson.

In 1930 & 1940, Mary resided with her daughter Senator Lottie Holman O'Neill and family, where she lived until her death.
