Lillie M. Herr
Lillie Mae Herr, 88, formerly of 214 E. Polk Ave., died at 5:37 p.m. Saturday in Memorial hospital.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1893 in Macksville, Kan., to Zedick and Anna Pauls Barber. She moved with her family to the Waynoka, Okla. area where she was reared on the family farm.
She married Homer Herr on Sept. 13, 1911 in Hopeton where she taught in the area schools. They moved to Colorado and then to Cottonwood Falls, Kans. During World War II they lived in Wichita, Kans., and she moved to Arkansas City in 1974, when her health began to fail. She was a member of the Hopeton, Okla., Community church.
Survived by one son, Irvin Herr, 1312 N. Twelfth street, Arkansas City, six daughters, Velma Leith, Rt. 4, Charmain Campbell, 728 S. Second street, Leatha Darlyta Herr, 220 E. Fifth Ave., all of Arkansas City, Thelma Baker, Ulysses, Kans., Vivian Heathman, Derby, Kans., and Doris Heathman, Sugar Grove, Ark., a brother, Albert Barber, Alva, Okla., two sisters, Ellen Hull, Waynoka, Okla., and Della Drake, Canyon, Texas; 16 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband on Jan. 14, 1970, her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Rindt-Erdman Oldroyd Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Cox officiating. Interment will be in the Dexter cemetery under the direction of the Rindt Erdman Oldroyd Funeral Home.
