Edd was born William Edward Bostick. He was the only son of Sion Hix "Si" Bostick and Pearl Mae Wallace.

In 1920, at age 9, Edd left Texas and went to Flagstaff, Arizona to help out at the farm of his Aunt Delie. He was old enough to drive the tractor and work the fields.

Edd married Maud Drew in November 24, 1929. They had three girls. During the dust bowl the family abandoned the farm in Texas and moved to Flagstaff, Arizona. In 1939, they moved to Oregon and grew potatoes in the rich volcanic soil. They grew them and sold them to the government during WWII.

Many times the family would cook dinner for the soldiers who would set up camps along their farm. In return the soldiers would bring the family boxes of chocolate to thank them for the wonderful home cooked meals.

In 1946 they decided they wanted to move back to Texas but had to get permission to use their gas rations for the long journey. Edd bought two 100 gallon gas drums and stored them in the back of the truck to make the move.

After arriving in Texas, his wife Maude ran a diner and Edd ran the Humble gas station in a small Texas town called Clariette. Edd did any job available to him to earn money to support his family. They were constantly on the move and did not stay in any location for a long period of time.

They moved to Oklahoma in 1953 then to California in 1955. During their 19 year stay in California they lived in San Jose, Roseville, Rocklin, Penryn, Loomis, Applegate, Auburn, and several other cities. They moved back to Texas in 1974. They lived in their home in Comanche, Texas for twelve years which was the longest they ever stayed in one location.

When Edd's health started to decline, the family decided it was best for him to move down to Houston to be near his granddaughter to care for him. They moved him into a nursing home in League City.
