Cecilia Fletcher Ryan, 104, passed from this life on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Fort Bayard Medical Center surrounded by her family. Cecilia was born October 29, 1906 in Pinos Altos, NM to John J. and Emilia D. Fletcher. She attended school in Pinos Altos, NM. Cecilia married William L. Ryan on October 24, 1931 in Leadville, Colorado and of this union three children were born Margaret, Thomas and John. William was killed in a mining accident at the Hanover Blackhawk Mine in 1937. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Three-B-Store, at the White House and JC Penny until she retired. She loved watching sports especially baseball. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, was happy when Lou Pinella was made manager. Hoping someday they would make it to the World Series. She loved Sammy Sosa and didn't care much for Pete Rose who played with the Reds. Cecilia enjoyed watching the "Young and the Restless" everyday with Lupe Ornelas. Cecilia will be remembered for many things, including her quick wit, perseverance and self discipline and her love of cats. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Ryan Alvarado; son, Thomas J. Ryan; her sister, Estefana (Fannie) F. Leon; thirteen grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren and eighteen great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William L., her son, John Patrick Ryan; sisters, Margaret F. Renteria, Mary F. Arbar, Evelyn F. Schafer; brothers, William T., John J. Jr.; grandsons, Joseph Michael Alvarado and William R. Ryan; granddaughter, Christina Beck; daughter-in-law, Consuelo C. Ryan; son-in-law, Henry Alvarado. A rosary will be held on Saturday, February 19th at 9am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Deacon Jerry Miller reciting. A memorial mass will follow at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Paulus Kao officiating.
