Ruby Sophie (Jensen) Sailor, 80, of North Platte, passed away Sept. 19, 2011, at North Platte Care Center.
She was born Sept. 5, 1931, in Lincoln County at home to John and Viola (Nelsen) Jensen. She grew up and attended schools in the Maxwell/Curtis area. In 1949, Ruby graduated high school from North Platte and started teaching right away. She taught school for four years at two different country schools. On June 27, 1953, she married Bob Sailor. Their only son, Robert, was born. Ruby volunteered for RSVP for many years. She enjoyed her years as a Cub Scout and 4-H leader. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Arnold. Ruby loved spending time with friends and family members, especially her two great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed Bible study and music. Survivors include her son, Robert (Deb), of Maxwell; grandson, Rocky (Candy) and two great grandchildren, Layton and Taren, all of Maywood; sisters, Ila (Earl) Dailey, of Arnold, Marg (Gayle) Miller, of Valentine; brother, Harold Jensen, of Valentine; sisters-in-law, Sherri Corbin, of Alaska, Jo (Ervan) Groves, Mickey (Roger) Gray, all of Oshkosh; brother-in-law Terry (Dot) Sailor, of Syracuse, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents; and nephew, Dennis Dailey. Services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26, at the United Methodist Church, Arnold. The Rev. Ben Eickhoff will officiate and burial will be at the Arnold Cemetery. Arnold Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Interment will be at the Arnold Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church, Arnold or the United Methodist Church, Arnold. Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 25, from 1-8 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements. Casket will be closed for service.
