Effie Jo Holsenbeck-Fullard went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 15, 2011. She was born on February 27, 1924 in Carlsbad, Texas to Alfred Eugene and Fannie Mae Holsenbeck.

She was a World War II veteran, proudly serving as a nurse in the Women's Army Corps from 1944-1946 where she achieved the rank of Sergeant. Jo compassionately cared for wounded soldiers at Wakeman General Hospital in Indiana, Valley Forge General Hospital in Pennsylvania, and McGuire General Hospital in Virginia.

While stationed in Virginia, Jo met the love on her life, Wilbert F. Fullard. They married June 9, 1945 in Richmond, Virginia, settling initially in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. In 1957, they moved to San Angelo, Texas with their children Richard and Linda.

Jo was a nurse for over 40 years, working at the Clinic Hospital of San Angelo and Angelo Community Hospital. She is recognized in the Women's Army Museum. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in San Angelo. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bert, her parents, four brothers (David, Notley, Author, and Jesse), and two sisters (Tess and Eula). Survivors include her son Richard Fullard and his wife Ingrid; daughter Linda Kreitz and husband Kenneth; grandchildren Tim Kreitz and wife Sharon; Eric Kreitz, Mark Fullard, Marie Walker and husband Jason; Great-grandchildren Haylie Kreitz, Miles Walker, and Cadence Walker; sisters Bea Williams, Eunice Caton, and Aline Burkett. She is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo. Pallbearers will be Tim Kreitz, Eric Kreitz, Mark Fullard, Rick Fleming, Jr., Jeff Fleming, Wade Caton, and Jay Burkett. Burial will follow at the Grape Creek Cemetery. The family requests memorials be sent to the San Angelo Retired Nurses Association, Meals for the Elderly of San Angelo, or the Grape Creek Cemetery Fund.
