Bertha Diploma Davis was born at Bear Valley, Wabasha Co, Minn, March 28,1870, died at her home near Atkinson, March 22,1928, aged 57 years, 11 months and 23 days.
She came with her parents to Holt Co in 1884, where she was married to Wesley K Slaymaker, Dec 25,1889, in Atkinson. To this union were born: Elmer Vane, Charles Edward, Geo, Harry, Mrs. Rinnie Izetta Barnes, Lawrence Guy, Frances Shirley, all living in Holt Co. there are 16 grandchildren. With these and a large number of friends and neighbors, her father and mother, Mr. andMrs Slyvanus Miner Davis, 4 brothers and 3 sisters, Chas of Atkinson, Jess and Levi of Crawford, Clyde of Chadron, Mrs. Frank Baily of Whichita, Kan, Mrs. Dewitt Morrison of Newport, Mrs. Dexter Russell of Miami, Flor, remain to mourn her loss. All were present except Mrs. Dexter.
Mrs. Slaymaker was a woman of very high character, when sickness or sorrow visited any home in her neighborhood, she was the one who was always present to help and comfort. She was a splendeid mother and a faithful wife. All too soon is she taken away from those for whom she lived to serve. The memory of her unselfish ministries will be a blessing to her loved ones.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Atkinson Saturday, March 24th, interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.
