Funeral services for Robert Hower were conducted Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Vase Funeral Chapel. The Rev. David Wade of the First Congregational Church officiated.
Interment was in the Paul J. Wataha Memorial Park.
The pallbearers were Jack Hower, James Hower, Albert Battisti, Isaac M. Brooks Jr., Robert Drazovich and John Armstrong.
Hower, 73, of 1001 West Kanbert Street, LaHabra, Calif., died at 1:03 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21 at the LaHabra Hospital where he had been a patient since Dec. 18. A resident of LaHabra since 1964 and former longtime resident of Rock Springs, Hower had been in ill health the past one and a half years.
He was born in Canton, Ohio on Aug. 17, 1913, the son of George and Elizabeth Bartram Hower. He attended school sin Rock Springs and married the former Sylvia Drazovich in Rock Springs in 1935.
Hower was a retired dock supervisor for IBM Trucking Company. He also was the former owner and operator of the Husky Service Station in Green River and worked in the coal mines in the Sweetwater County area for many years.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia of LaHabra; his mother, Elizabeth Hower of Rock Springs; three brothers, George Hower and Jimmy Hower, both of Rock Springs and Jack Hower of Newport News, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Isaac (Pat) Brooks and Mrs. Kathy McGovern, both of Rock Springs, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Hower was preceded in death by his father; one sister, Thelma Atwood and two nephews, Richard Goatcher and George Battisti.
