GEORGE HOWER

ROCK SPRINGS-- Funeral services for George Hower were conducted Monday, Feb. 2, at the First Congregational Church. The Rev. David Wade officiated. American Legion Archie Hay Post No. 24 conducted military graveside honors.

Interment was in the Paul J. Wataha Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Tony Kaumo, John Purdy, Mark Hower, Isaac Brooks, Al Battisti Jr. and Stan Frolic Jr.

Hower, 58, of 1109 Lee St., Rock Springs, died at about 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at his home.

A long-time resident of Rock Springs, Hower died following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Canton, Ohio on Feb. 8, 1928, the son of George and Elizabeth Bartram Hower. He attended schools in Rock Springs and was a retired station attendant having worked for the Husky Truck Stop. Hower was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the First Congregational Church, the American Legion Archie Hay Post No. 24 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth Hower of Rock Springs; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Elizabeth) Canada of Mianer, Okla.; two brothers, Jimmy Hower of Rock Springs and Jack Hower of Newport News, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Isaac (Pat) Brooks and Mrs. Kathy McGovern, both of Rock Springs and several nieces and nephews.

Hower was preceded in death by his father; one sister, Thelma Atwood; one brother, Robert Hower, who died Dec. 21, 1986 and two nephews, Richard Goatcher and George Battisti.
