Bessie B. Knight, 93, wife of the late Frank P. Knight, died Nov. 22, 1994, at a Bangor nursing home. She was born in Macwahoc, Oct. 7, 1901, the daughter of Melvin E. and Mary E. (Cole) Bowley. She attended Mawahoc Schools and graduated from Mattawamkeag High School. She retried from F.W. Woolworth, for whom she worked in Massachusetts and in Bangor for many years. She is survived by two daughters, Violet Pettengil of Mattawamkeag, Mildred Grillo and Dominic of Mendon, Mass.; a son, Francis Knight and Vera of Bangor; two grandsons, Roger Pettengill of West Point, N.Y. and Frank Grillo of Las Vesgas, Nev.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and she leaves many, many friends of all ages. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Clay Funeral Home in Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Treadwell officiating. Interment will be in Mattawamkeag Cemetery. Friends who wish may donate in her memory to the Ronald McDonald House or the Activities Fun, Bangor City Nursing Facility.
