Nellie Francis (Gaddis) Parton
Nellie Francis (Gaddis) Parton, 91, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin for 61 years.
She was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Ansel, Ky. Her parents were Charles and Mary Elizabeth (Wesley) Gaddis. She married Arnold Lee Parton on March 22, 1926, in Ansel, Ky. He preceded her in death Oct. 16, 1979. Survivors include four sons, Alva Dayton Parton of Bargersville, Vernie Nelson Parton of Whiteland and Glen Edward Parton and Winford Eugene Parton, both of Franklin; two daughters, Dorothy Elizabeth Stephens and Jacqueline Kay Parton, both of Franklin; two brothers, Norman Gaddis of Shelbyville and Marvin Gaddis of New Castle; a sister, Aileen Gaddis Dick of Somerset, Ky.; 26 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Edgar, Silas, Adon and Noel Gaddis; and a sister, Myrtle Woodall.
She attended school in Kentucky.
She was a homemaker and child-care provider most of her life.
She was a member of Licksprings Baptist Church.
The Rev. Rodney Craggs will conduct a service at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. in Franklin. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
