He was born on Oct. 15, 1923 in Zearing, Iowa to Robert and Nellie Jones Ricketts. He married Maudetta Halden on Aug. 4, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 1999. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Carroll, Robert, Max and Don and sisters Jeanette, Mary Kay and Ilene.
Survivors include a son, Bruce (Lana) Ricketts of Broadlands; a granddaughter, Lt. Kelly Ricketts of Waukegan and a sister, Maxine Britten of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a 1st Lt. in World War II. He flew missions in the South Pacific.
