Laura Mae Gauger, second daughter of Henry and Mary Petsch, was born July 16, 1895, on the homestead south of Wauneta and departed this life July 17, 1962, at the age of 67 years and one day at the Chase County Hospital in Imperial.
She and Manuel Gauger were united in marriage on April 1, 1916, at Holyoke, Colo. To this union was born one son, Leonard Ray, who now resides on the home place. Manuel and Laura suffered the hardships typical of this period of time.
She leaves to mourn her passing: one son, Leonard, and wife; three grandchildren, Lenna Anderson of Smith Center, Kansas; Patricia and Dianna at home; one great grandson, Dwight Scott Anderson; two sisters and six brothers: Fred Petsch of Meridan, Wyo.; Jess Petsch of Stratton, Nebr.; Velma Green of Enders; Joe Petsch of Albin, Wyo.; Alice Porter of Benkelman; Elmer Petsch of Stratton, Nebr.; Marion Petsch of Riverton, Wyo.; and Kelley Petsch of Anchorage, Alaska, and a host of other relatives and friends. Her parents, her husband, three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death, those being Pearl Prime, John Petsch, Guy Petsch, Ada Fortkamp, and Vada McCallum.
Laura had been in ill health for some years. She was always a helpful neighbor in time of need and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Funeral services were held at Eden Missionary Church with internment at Eden Cemetery Friday, July 20, with Reverend Ernst of Mt. Zion officiating.
Pallbearers were Donald, John, and Ralph Donze, Howard Gauger, Bill Salyer, Rodney Petsch and Virgil Petsch.
